Congratulations to Chlara Pistelli on receiving an Exemplary Behavior Report from a referee through the IHSAA. "The Captain of the South Putnam Eagles, Chlara Pistelli, led the team to the championship for the county tournament. The athlete showed leadership and skill on the court. The athlete showed good sportsmanship when the call didn’t go the team's way."

Good evening, South Putnam families:
Putnam County Sheriff Baugh has just released an update via Facebook that reads:
"No new social media threats to area schools.
As of this evening, all social media threats and or informational posts about school threats have been investigated by area law enforcement.
We have found no substantiated threats to our schools. All investigations are current, with no new investigations started since last week.
Reports from our investigations, about the subjects who created these posts, will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.
We continue to work with area schools and law enforcement agencies, to provide safety to our kids and school faculty each day.
If a new post arises, please share with law enforcement and school officials, so we may determine the quickest plan of action to resolve the concern and provide the highest level of safety for our kids.
Be advised the sharing of a social media post, about an unsubstantiated threat to area schools, usually causes more confusion than it helps resolve.
Sheriff Baugh"

Here at South Putnam, we will continue to be vigilant and safety-oriented, returning to standard safety protocols and working cooperatively with law enforcement should the need arise.
Have a great evening,
Dr. Smith

Dear Parents and Guardians of Putnam County Schools,
This evening, we were informed of a potential threat to the safety of schools across Putnam County. The threat, though non-specific and not directed at any individual school, did reference all schools within the county.
It is important to note that this threat may be part of a growing trend of social media. However, we take any and all threats seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of your children. School administrators from across the county are working closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and identify the source of this threat.
All four Putnam County superintendents, along with multiple school administrators, have been in continuous contact with law enforcement agencies including the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and local police departments to ensure that every precaution is being taken. As part of these measures, you may see additional law enforcement officers present at our schools tomorrow.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dustin LeMay

Thank you to Karen Heavin of Heavin College and Career Readiness Services for arranging our Senior Seminar Friday morning focused on college applications and scholarships. The presenters included senior Audrey Richardson who is serving as a College Board Big Future Student Leadership Ambassador. Quinci Miller, the Associate Director of Admissions from Purdue, encouraged seniors to apply to multiple schools and advised them on the difference between Early Decision (binding decision) and Early Action (non-binding decision). She also explained holistic and formulaic admission considerations. Ashley Pearison from Ivy Tech explained dual credit use and transfer. Karen Heavin discussed financial aid and scholarships. It was an informative morning!

Students attended the IHSAA Fall Meeting at Brownsburg High School. They heard from a collection of speakers including South Putnam senior Danae Cline.

Thank you to the members of the S.A.L.S. grant team who presented Melissa Haddon with grant funds to support a dissection project for her middle school science students. S.A.L.S. Is a small group of community members "interested in enhancing the learning environment for South Putnam students." They were "touched by teachers who gave selflessly of their time, talents and own personal money to make lasting imprints on our educational experiences, especially in our science, agriculture and life skills classes."

A Regional Job Fair for adults is being hosted by WorkOne on September 11th at the Greencastle Armory from noon to 5:00 p.m.
